Promoting fairness by allowing
all renters to benefit from short-term rental programs

Current federal housing policy prohibits renters in apartment buildings financed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac from occasionally hosting their units as short-term rentals, even when subject to strict conditions like night caps and occupancy limits.

Meanwhile, renters in apartment buildings backed by non-GSE lenders do not face this same restriction.

We believe in leveling the playing field for all renters by removing existing restrictions on STR activities in GSE-financed apartment buildings.

This change would allow more renters to access the benefits of STR programs like Airbnb-friendly apartments.
